Greymouse is a Virtual Human Resource provider founded by Australian entrepreneurs Kelvin Davis and Marisa Wiman in 2005. Since its inception, Greymouse has consistently delivered high-quality, time-sensitive, and cost-effective services through off-shoring facilities based in Suva, Fiji Islands, Legazpi City, Philippines, and Indore, India.
The company’s journey began in 2002 when the word ‘outsourcing’ was considered jargon for an industry that barely existed. Kelvin and Marisa foresaw the potential of building a company around Internet connectivity and took bold steps to explore this idea. More than a decade later, Greymouse’s journey of becoming one of the top virtual workforce providers in the world may ave been ambitious, but with purpose and determination as the foundation, the company has successfully conquered geographical boundaries, delivering services to clients globally at the speed of Google.
Greymouse offers a variety of outsourcing services, including customer support, virtual assistance, data entry and management, as well as accounting and finance services. The company prides itself on a relationship-based approach, focusing on understanding the unique needs of its clients and ensuring they find the right fit for their business. Why Fiji?
In 2005, Australian couple Kelvin Davis and Marisa Wiman set out to change the way Australians viewed offshore call centers by establishing Greymouse in Fiji. Their decision to open the call center stemmed from a previous stay in Fiji, where they recognised the country’s strong service-oriented culture and significant potential.
Marisa noted that the Fijian accent was clear and easily understood by Australians, making it an ideal match for their clientele. At the time, call centers had a negative reputation in Australia, with many holding unfavorable views. However, Marisa and Kelvin aimed to challenge this perception by introducing a fresh approach through Greymouse.
Affectionately known as “GM” by its team, Greymouse initially focused on providing virtual assistant services to Australian businesses, offering cost-effective solutions to companies facing talent shortages.
Marisa, who had previously worked in Fiji, identified an opportunity to address two critical issues: the rising labor costs in Australia and the unemployment crisis in Fiji. By harnessing the Fijians’ excellent English language skills and abundant talent pool, Greymouse effectively bridged these gaps.
Additionally, Fiji’s proximity to Australia and its similar time zone made it a convenient and attractive solution for Australian businesses. This forward-thinking approach not only positioned Greymouse as a key player in the offshore services sector but also helped redefine the value and potential of Fijian talent in global markets.
