Press Release – 28 October 2022

A New Zealand-based consulting and services company, Duco Consultancy, is ready to expand its services in Fiji, which will create 150 job opportunities by the end of 2022. The company, which operates in New Zealand, Australia, the United States of America (USA), and India, has now successfully registered in Fiji.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Chandan Ohri said Fiji’s young, dynamic workforce and its position as a vibrant and connected hub enabled Duco Consultancy to invest in Fiji.

“We at Duco Consultancy are well aware of the potential in Fiji and we are proud to be setting up our business here,” said Ohri.

Duco Consultancy specializes in designing workshops for mapping business needs and technology solutions, demystifying and simplifying business processes, and developing businesses.

To facilitate this project, Investment Fiji, along with Outsource Fiji, provided the company with industry updates, information on tax incentives and collaboration with the relevant agencies.

“Investment Fiji assisted us in understanding Fiji as a country, its economy, and the skills that are available here. The agency, together with Outsource Fiji, has been magnificent on the ground with all the registration and compliance, ensuring that we are able to identify office spaces and connect with universities for talent,” stated Ohri.

Investment Fiji Chief Executive Officer Kamal Chetty said Fiji has a thriving outsourcing sector and international brands showing confidence in Fiji’s economy simply means Fiji is moving in the right direction to achieve the Fijian Government’s vision of developing Fiji as a value-adding Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) hub.

“The outsourcing industry in Fiji has progressively become strong and rife with many opportunities for foreign companies. There are major international brands already operating or are setting up in Fiji, paving the way for more global players to select Fiji as their ideal destination,” said Chetty.

“I am pleased that Duco Consultancy chose Fiji and it is now their turn to carve their niche in the Fijian sector. We have thousands of Fijians employed in the outsourcing sector, and in a decade, we anticipate a massive number of graduates who are tech-savvy and knowledgeable joining the sector. This is an indication of the vast opportunity the industry has in Fiji,” said Chetty.

Outsource Fiji Executive Director, Sagufta Janif while welcoming the company, said the setup of Duco Consultancy in Fiji is a diversification of the country’s outsourcing industry.

“Fiji’s outsourcing industry is becoming more diverse compared to a decade ago when it was predominantly Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and shared services focused. Now, with Duco Consultancy coming into Fiji, we are seeing more expansion in the industry, which includes Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) businesses as well.”

“Having such KPO’s in Fiji will ensure that our people who are within the ICT space get access to international standard job opportunities while working from their home country, and as such, we are glad to have Duco Consultancy from our neighbouring country come onto our shores for their nearshoring operations,” she added.
